Callum Stainer, how to make a lasting impression on your new employer.

Top 5 Tips to Make a Lasting Impression on Your New Employers

My Own Experience

When I started at Greenfield IT Recruitment nearly a year ago now I really wanted to make a lasting impression on the senior members of the team with the view to hit the ground running. I can still remember my first couple of weeks and how nervous I was, but looking back I have no idea why!

Being a Recruiter I hope my experience and interactions with candidates will enable me to help others in my network. Starting a new job is just the beginning of what can be a long and fulfilling career. While making a good impression on your first day is important, it’s equally crucial to continue making a positive impact over the first few weeks and months.

I have assembled my 5 top tips for candidates wishing to build a lasting impression when starting a new job, you can find them below:

  1. Be Consistent: Be consistent in your work and behaviour, follow company policies and procedures, and meet deadlines. This will demonstrate your reliability and dedication to your job and company.
  2. Take Initiative: Don’t wait to be told what to do, take initiative and look for ways to add value to your role and the company. This shows that you are proactive and willing to go above and beyond.
  3. Build Relationships: Take the time to get to know your co-workers and build positive relationships. This will help you to integrate into the company culture and feel more comfortable in your role.
  4. Seek Feedback: Ask for feedback from your manager and co-workers on a regular basis to ensure you are meeting expectations and continuously improving. This shows that you value their opinions and are open to growth and development.
  5. Be Adaptable: Be open to change and willing to adapt to new situations and challenges. This shows that you are flexible and capable of handling different tasks and responsibilities.

Conclusion

By following these tips, you will not only make a great first impression, but also a lasting one. Remember, building a good reputation takes time and effort, but the results are worth it.
